Bradford E. Colen, M.D.
Board Certified
Dr.
Colen is a graduate of the Chicago Medical School and the
University of Cincinnati Psychiatric Residency Program where he
served as Chief Resident the last year. He continued there as
an instructor for the next two years and started a
Geropsychiatry Unit. Dr. Colen returned to his hometown of
Peoria and began his private practice in 1981 as founder and
President of Associates in Mental Health. He is a Clinical
Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois
College of Medicine in Peoria and was elected Distinguished Life
Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Colen was
elected President of the Medical Staff at Methodist Medical
Center in 1982. He sees adolescents, adults and geriatric
patients in individual, family, and group settings.

Karen M. Kyle M.D.
Board Certified
Dr. Kyle is a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine.
She completed her residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center,
Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas in 1989. She
later served as Chief of the Mental Health Clinic with the 380th
Medical Group at Plattsburgh AFB in New York. Dr. Kyle
joined Associates in Mental Health in 1993. She sees
adults and geriatric patients in both an outpatient and
inpatient setting. Dr. Kyle specializes in anxiety and
depressive disorders but sees individuals with a wide variety of
problems including psychosis and dementia. Her practice
style is such that she likes to spend time and talk with
individuals so that she is aware of what issues need to be
addressed whether they have a psychopharmacologic or a
psychotherapeutic basis or both.

Thena G. Poteat M.D.
Board Certified
Dr.
Poteat is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina
. She completed her psychiatry residency at Yale University
Department of Psychiatry at New Haven, Connecticut. While in
her residency, Dr. Poteat worked at the Department of Behavioral
Health at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. She
also spent one year of training providing psychotherapy and
medication management for graduate and undergraduate students
through the Department of Mental Hygiene at Yale University
Health Services. Dr. Poteat joined Associates in Mental Health
in July 2004. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of
Psychiatry at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in
Peoria. She sees patients ages 14 and older in both an
inpatient and outpatient setting. Dr. Poteat enjoys working with
patients with a broad range of issues with the goal of always
trying to help an individual resume their best level of
functioning through the aid of either medication, therapy, or
both.
